Common variants include the Grand Martingale (double + add one unit per step) and the Mini Martingale (cap at 3–4 steps to limit ruin). Both shift the risk/reward tradeoff but do not eliminate negative EV.

Problems & limits

What bankroll do I need to run Martingale safely?
You need at least 127x your base bet to survive a 7-loss sequence, and 255x to survive 8. Most practitioners use 500–1000x and cap at 7 steps to avoid the hidden max bet wall.
Does Martingale work on crypto dice?
In the short run it creates steady wins, but the math is unchanged: each session has the same negative EV. It only becomes net-positive if your rakeback percentage exceeds (house edge × turnover), which requires a very high instant rakeback casino.
Why does my autobet stop early on Stake?
Stake's autobet has an undocumented session-length limit that silently halts progression mid-sequence. You must restart the session manually or switch to a casino without this restriction.
